No Air and the Urban Angel / a girl's musical gems

I suppose this is the music edition, ^_^. As I have tried to pull my suddenly disoriented life into focus several songs have obsessed me. Music, as with most, has always been quite cathartic for me. I especially enjoy being turned onto a new song or band; it's a strange high. I think one of the most fun careers would be scouting bands/songs for a television show or movie. Yes, one would have to endure the dreck, but imagine the excitement when coming upon "The One" which perfectly sums up the mood! Don't mind me -- my thoughts have been on a career path of late due to the recent termination of my ten year employment. C'est la vie. Did I spell that correctly? Or perhaps the better question is, did I use it correctly?

Heh. Well, I'm straying from the topic and the topic is music -- what's been obsessing me lately? (imagine the really cool synth riff from Janet Jackson's 'What Have You Done For Me Lately?' when reading that line -- I did. ::grin::)
.

I might be late to the party on this one but I don't care: I love the duet single, 'No Air', sung by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown. I have been slow to catch "Chris Brown fever", if you will. A friend had to point out and clarify to me who he was as we watched the film, 'Stomp the Yard'. I might have felt some shame for my ignorance then... if I had given a damn. He didn't seem all that special or hot to me (the lead character had my attention in that department). It took the ubiquitous 'Kiss Kiss' song to spark any sort of interest. As for Jordin Sparks ... I heard her first single, 'Tattoo', and stepped away. Gross. And insipid, so double penalty. What was she thinking? Putting out that single when she had something as good as 'No Air' hyperventilating -- due to poorly exercised judgment on the matter -- in the wings?! No matter. At least now she has a kick-ass song. ::yay::

.

My next obsession is the album, Urban Angel, by Natalie Walker. Her song, 'Right Here', was featured in the recent Knight Rider pilot cum telefilm, which just proves something good really can come from crap! Really... Truly... Don't watch that mess. Moving on... I scrambled over to Real Rhapsody and yay, they had her album loaded in their listings. Seriously, every song on here is beautiful. I am in love with this digital CD. Some of the gems are: 'Quicksand'; 'No One Else'; and 'Urban Angel'. Love.
