President-elect Barack Obama

I just wanted to write it. That's all. Last night, I only
wanted to hear various news stations say it, see it in
their show bumpers and floating flat screens over and
over again. Now, I wish to write it.

The work begins anews...
And the dream lives again...

Barack Obama is the official Democratic Presidential Nominee.

I hope America watched last night. I hope America saw this occasion which, whatever outcome, will ring forever in our personal history, our national history, our Black history no matter your nation.

Of course there were many "don't miss" moments -- Michelle Obama's speech, John Kerry's excoriation of McCain, Biden, Bill, and Hillary... But if this nation neither heard nor saw anything else during this four-day convention, please, America, at least tell me this:

Tell me, you watched Barack last night.

I am very, very proud of my party, of my nation; hopeful for our future.

Willis, I apologize -- you were right. I was wrong. You had more faith in the heart of America than I, and though I know politically you are most likely displeased but thank you for being right. Thank the Gods I was wrong!
